Wakodahatchee Wetlands Florida

This is an anhinga. Notice the blue eyes.

The birds nest in these types of trees.  The trees are surrounded by water.

This is either a heron or an egret?

This is a heron looking for fish. He did catch a small one but he was really fast and we did not get a picutre of it.

We walk on these long boardwalks.  This way we are close to the birds but do not bother them.  The aligators can't get to us either........

Yes we have squirrels in Florida also.

Here you can see a large nesting area, the boardwalk and a pavillion.

A beautiful great blue heron is hunting.

So far we have visited this year twice and these two herons are always standing next to each other.  They must be newly in love?

If you look closely you will see the front one is sleeping.  Her head is tucked in.

More hunting.......

Can you find 2 iguanas?  There is a large one and a small one.

This concludes my first wetlands post.  We love to visit these areas because we get to bird watch.  We spend lots of time observing them and get to learn about their behaviour.  Every visit is fun and unique.
